A super brief history-

The history of the Sluts dates back to 1979; when the love of making others laugh through Camp-Drag Comedy exploded from Los Angeles and was brought back to Colorado. Over the past 3 decades, as the troupe honed their style, they have only had a few distinct rules for their performers – “They could have no painted fingernails and no tucking was allowed. They had to have body and facial hair. High heels were optional. All the money to put on the shows, makeup and hair came out of the pockets of the performers. And 100 percent of the money they raised went to charity.” Through trials and tribulations, the beautiful, compassionate, and fierce Glitter Beards took Denver by storm, and inevitably the country, with their special brand of exquisitely bawdy philanthropy.  

Why we support them-

As Colorado’s premiere Camp-comedy ensemble, they have somehow magically managed to walk the before unbeknownst line between raunchy and elegance, fierce rhetoric and incomparable consideration, and most of all – their unrelenting civic support to a society that hasn’t always supported them. These contradictions are wrapped up in enormous wigs, insanely colorful costume creations, glitter – glitter – more glitter, courage, and loving laughter. The final result is class and panache that surpasses societal expectations, obliterates cultural boundaries with an impeccably painted rapier wit, and proves the validity of acceptance by beating everyone over the head with humor, benevolence, and did we mention- glitter. How could we not absolutely adore and support them?

Charitable exploits-

“To date, The Denver Cycle Sluts have raised more than $200,000 for such charitable organizations as animal shelters, children’s foundations, women’s shelters, crisis funds, AIDS-related outreach programs, and numerous LGBT programs and charities – just to name a few.”

Each month comes the much anticipated “Drag Queen Bingo” event, multiple invitations,  appearances, and separate organized events throughout the Denver area, as well as around the country, all to collect donations for charity. Their hard work and dedication is mind blowing, especially when taking into consideration that they pay for all of their own costumes, and donate all of that time, to give 100% back to charity. As a labor of love, their compensation comes from helping those in need, while having as much fun as possible in the process.
